Supercorsa, 1963 with Reynolds tubeset

My thanks to Siegfried for sending in photos (click on them to enlarge) of a friend's 1963 Cinelli SC with an original Reynolds decal. We don't see many of these.

I happen to have some images of a 1963 Ron Kitching catalog in which it indicates the Supercorsa is made as having the main triangle in Reynolds 531 and the fork and stays in double butted Columbus.

Cinelli: The Art and Design of the Bicycle

The new book titled "Cinelli: The Art and Design of the Bicycle" is now available in English in bookstores. The publisher is Rizzoli, ISBN: 978-0-8478-3867-7.

A beautifully illustrated survey of more than sixty-five years of work by one of the most pioneering and influential names in bicycle design. Since Cino Cinelli began making frames in Italy in the 1940s, Cinelli has set the standards for bicycle and component design. Lodovico Pignatti Morano is a writer and consultant based in Milan. Antonio Colombo has been the President and owner of Cinelli and Columbus since 1973, and is the director of a contemporary art gallery in Milan. Felice Gimondi is one of only five cyclists in history to win all three Grand Tours: the Tour de France, the Giro d’Italia, and the Vuelta a España.

New Cinelli Laser is in........Carbon! "Laser Viva"

Yes, the newest version of the iconic Cinelli Laser is in carbon and is named the "Laser Viva" (above, click on image to enlarge). Coming in 2013.

More recently  Mr. Andrea Pesenti, the builder of the original Lasers, was involved in the creation of a small limited edition of steel Lasers ("Laser Nostra", see here). Now, Mr. Pesenti has been involved as well in the carbon creation named the Laser Viva which is said to have the same "look and feel". Photo of the limited edition "Laser Nostra", September 2011:

1965 Cinelli: Cover for Bicycle Quarterly 2013 Calendar

A 1965 Supercorsa, as built up by the legendary Spence Wolf of the Cupertino Bike Shop, graces the front of a new calendar being offered by Bicycle Quarterly for 2013. The "Classic Bicycles: calendar featuring studio photos of thirteen classic bicycles.

Other racing bikes include Eddy Merckx’ winning machine, Francesco Moser’s hour record bike, and René Vietto’s aluminum Barra. The calendar also features a motorpaced stayer bike, an American six-day racer, and the bike of the first female U.S. champion from 1936. Admirers of cyclotouring bikes will enjoy machines from René Herse, Alex Singer, Camille Daudon and Goéland, as well as the amazing 1930s Schulz.

Most of the photos have been published in the books The Golden Age of Handbuilt Bicycles and The Competition Bicycle, but now you can admire them on your wall as you plan your year. Detail views and historic photos of the featured bikes, as well as brief captions, complete the calendar.
