This smaller Giotto Cinelli badge, believed to be for a stem(?), has been discovered:

The larger badge is a headtube badge,

Giotto Cinelli, 1947/1948

The owner of this frame (and also the earlier posted 1946/1947) makes these observations:
-I think this is a 1947-48, perhaps one of the last bikes built by Giotto before Cino takes over the activity,
-the shape of the badge, and gold color, anticipate the next bikes from Cino,
-note that the head badge indicates C.B. & C. (Cinelli Bianchi & C),
-the seat post collar is G. Bianchi which was a distributor and representative for a short time for Cinelli bikes and components,
-the bike belonged to racer Giuseppe Sabatini

Giotto Cinelli, 1946/1947

Thanks to a reader's kindness we have these photos of a 1946/1947 Giotto Cinelli.

The first Cinelli branded bikes were actually built and sold by Cino's older brother, Giotto Cinelli in Firenze (Florence). Cino Cinelli moved the business from Firenze to Milano sometime in the 1950s.

Only several Giotto Cinelli bikes are known to exist.

Another brother, Arrigo, was also involved in the bicycle business and a few stems with have survived (see here).

This 1946 photo is of the only true complete team ever to be exclusively sponsored by Cinelli:

Stay tuned for another surprise!

Giotto Cinelli

A reader advises that he has this 1946 Giotto Cinelli on ebay (here). We have photos of another such bike, and additional information, here.

N.B. There has been some discussion (on classicrendezvous) about whether this is in fact a Giotto Cinelli frame, and in addition a direct comment was left here saying, "Hello, your site is very important. It is a point of reference for all, I look at it often and willingly congratulations. This last bike is not a cinelli giotto,  just the badge is giotto....I tell you so don't make confusion among fans."

I have not personally seen a Giotto Cinelli so you will have to do your own research regarding the offered bicycle.

Cino Cinelli and Family

This image from a 1939 publication comes courtesy of Dave Beck. The lower photo, taken in 1917, shows Cino Cinelli in the arms of his mother. Cino's older brother, Giotto Cinelli, is in the middle next to their grandmother. All the Cinelli siblings are named.

The article also mentions that Giotto Cinelli owned a plastics factory at the time.

1946 Giotto Cinelli Cycling Team

This 1946 photo is of the only true complete team ever to be exclusively sponsored by Cinelli. As you can see the jerseys are labeled G. (Giotto) Cinelli as this pre-dates the Cino leadership of the company. Cino supplied many bikes to amateurs as well as single pro riders but was never the title sponsor of any team.

A Giotto Cinelli bike article can be read here.

Giotto Cinelli

Contrary to common myth, Cino Cinelli was not the one who founded the Cinelli bicycle business. The first Cinelli branded bikes were actually built and sold by his older brother Giotto Cinelli in Firenze (Florence). Also involved in the business in Firenze was another older brother of Cino, Arrigo Cinelli.

Only a few Giotto Cinelli bicycles are known to exist. Of the 1946 Giotto Cinelli, Campagnolo Cambio Corsa equipped, bike shown above a reader of the Italian Cycling Journal wrote, "Very little is known about these bikes. According to Andrea Cinelli (ed. note: son of Cino Cinelli), very few of these early bikes exist. But thanks to the Internet, at least two more have been found. My bike was restored in Italy back in the early 70s. Unfortunately decals or pictures of Giotto Cinelli bikes with decals have yet to be discovered. Any information about the design of the original decals, or other Giotto Cinelli bikes, would be most welcome."

Cino Cinelli moved the business from Firenze to Milano sometime in the 1950s.
