1952 Cinelli Model B

A reader writes in with the following about his circa 1952 Cinelli Model B:

"The 50s Cinelli frame was on its way to a landfill somewhere in Germany, when it was offered to me. I only had to pay postage to get it to the USA.

It took over 5 years for the restoration with frame work, paint, chrome, period Cinelli decals made and careful component selection.

I decided to have the frame painted colors that pay homage to the Bianchi team of the 30s and 40s- Bianchi blue and ivory. Both Cino and Giotto both rode for Bianchi during the golden era of Italian cycling.

This Cinelli frame is unique because its built to accept the Simplex Competition and Tour de France derailleurs. Note that the the derailleurs are Italian Simplex."

I invite you to contribute by sending in photographs of your Cinelli bike, illustrations, personal stories, and articles about Cinelli bikes and components.

Thanks for stopping by.

  2. Were the Model B made by the Cinelli factory at the time, or made by a subcontractor.
    Any information would be appreciated.
    Thanks
